A Holistic Approach to Cancer Support and Awareness

SAKUSHAL was registered as a charitable trust in the year 2023.(REGN no.477/4/249 ) with the primary purpose of providing aid to families of children suffering from cancer. The idea was to help in covering gaps in cancer care to outstation children coming to Delhi/NCR for treatment. This could include gaps in nutrition, education, mental health care/counselling, lodging etc.

In addition Sakushal would also work towards building awareness about breast cancer leading to early detection and timely treatment.

Resources:

We plan to raise finance through donations from individuals as well as organisations. We have already received exemption under IT section 80g.

NGO Darpan:

Sakushal Trust is also registered on NGO Darpan portal of the Govt of India (unique id- DL/2023/0363352)

Additionally SAKUSHAL would benefit from help provided by volunteers and resource persons willing to give time and lend their expertise. Our model is to keep administrative costs to the minimum so that the donations are utilised to the maximum for the benefit of the children. To this end, the trustees and resource persons are involved hands on in the day to day functioning.

Swachchata

Swachchata and Cancer Care: Small Habits That Make a Big Difference

When a child is undergoing cancer treatment, every aspect of their care matters, including the environment they live in. While cleanliness alone cannot prevent cancer, practicing Swachchata (cleanliness and hygiene) plays an important role in protecting children from infections and supporting their treatment journey.

Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy often weaken the body’s natural defense system, making children more vulnerable to infections. In such situations, simple hygiene practices can help create a safer and healthier environment for recovery.

Why Swachchata Matters

Swachchata is more than keeping spaces clean. It is about building healthy habits that protect children and families from preventable illnesses.

Simple practices such as washing hands regularly, keeping living spaces clean, drinking safe water, and maintaining personal hygiene can help reduce the risk of infections and support overall well-being.

For children undergoing cancer treatment, these small steps can have a significant impact on their health and recovery.

The Power of Everyday Habits

Good hygiene begins with simple actions that can be practiced every day:

  • Washing hands before meals and after using the washroom.
    • Keeping rooms, bedding, and common areas clean.
    • Drinking safe and clean water.
     • Following proper food preparation and storage practices.
     • Maintaining personal hygiene and oral care.
     • Encouraging caregivers and visitors to follow hygiene protocols.

These habits not only help protect children undergoing treatment but also contribute to a healthier environment for the entire family.

Supporting Recovery Through Clean Living

Cancer care extends beyond medicines and hospital visits. Nutrition, emotional support, a clean environment, and healthy daily routines all contribute to a child’s well-being.

A hygienic environment helps reduce the risk of infections, supports uninterrupted treatment, and allows children to focus on healing and recovery. For families navigating the challenges of cancer treatment, maintaining cleanliness can be one of the simplest yet most effective ways to support their loved ones.

A Shared Responsibility

Swachchata is a collective responsibility. Families, caregivers, healthcare professionals, communities, schools, and organisations all have a role to play in promoting healthy practices and creating safe environments for children.

By encouraging cleanliness and hygiene awareness, we can help reduce preventable infections and support better health outcomes for vulnerable children.

Sakushal’s Commitment

At Sakushal, we believe that awareness leads to action. Through our Swachchata initiatives, we aim to educate children and families about the importance of hygiene, healthy living, and infection prevention.

Our goal is to empower families with practical knowledge and simple habits that can help protect children during treatment while fostering healthier communities for everyone.

Clean Surroundings. Healthy Habits. Stronger Futures.

Every small action matters. A clean environment, safe hygiene practices, and informed communities can help create a stronger foundation for health, healing, and hope.
